GREATER NOIDA: The ride between Greater Noida phase 1 and Upper Ganga
Canal Expressway is all set to get smoother. The Greater Noida
Development Authority will construct six new link roads as part of its
expansion plan under Master Plan 2031, thus, enhancing intra-city
connectivity with Delhi, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Haridwar and
Muzaffarnagar.
The project has already got a nod from the state government. Since all
the three existing linkages passing through the city, Upper Ganga
Canal Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway and Grand Trunk Road
divide the city vertically, the link roads have been planned to
provide better connectivity among the three divisions.
Five of the six roads will ultimately meet the eight-lane Upper Ganga
Canal Expressway while, the sixth, smaller link road will go up to the
proposed Eastern Peripheral Expressway or the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal
Expressway that will bypass Delhi on the eastern side, said
officials.
The first road will be 12.7 km long and will begin from Saini village
in Noida extension. It will pass through Greater Noida villages like
Acheja and Badalpur and will finally meet the UGCE near Dehra. A
further extension of the road will lead to Hapur.
The13. 3 km-long second link road will begin at Sunpura in phase 1 and
will meet the UGCE near Tatara.
The third, smaller link road will be 4. 3 km long and will begin at
Palla village near Kappa 2 Greater Noida and will meet the proposed
Eastern Peripheral Expressway near Phase II Dadri. A 16-km extension
of this road will connect Pari Chowk in Greater Noida to Haridwar.
The fourth link road will be 33 km long and will be an extension of
the 105-metre long road that connects Pari Chowk to Bodaki. The
extended road will pass through Kota sonata in Bulandshahar,
ultimately meeting the Upper Ganga Canal Expressway. The same 105-
metre link connects Greater Noida to Delhi via the DND flyway.
The fifth, 14 km link road will begin at Rithori and meet the UGCE
that will extend till Purkazi on the Uttar Pradesh-Uttarakhand border
and the sixth 15.1 km link road will be constructed between Mayacha
village and the UGCE passing through Moradabad and Bharana in
Bulandshahar district.
"The current stress on connecting Greater Noida with Delhi, Ghaziabad
and several other important towns is crucial considering that this
whole area is a development hub. It falls between the Western Freight
Corridor between Dadri and Mumbai and the Eastern freight corridor
between Ludhiana and Calcutta," a senior official said.
