The interchange will benefit those travelling from Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna city to KGP (Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal).

GREATER NOIDA: Yamuna Expressway will be connected with Eastern Peripheral Expressway (KGP-Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal) via an interchange which will be built near Jaganpura –Afzalpur village at Yamuna Expressway in Gautam Budh Nagar district.

The interchange, which is expected to be built in one year’s time will benefit those travelling from Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna city to KGP (Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal) and those travelling from Meerut, Moradabad, Faridabad as well as from Palwal-Manesar to access proposed Jewar airport.

Till now people had to travel 11 km to Sirsa interchange at Bir Akbarpur from Yamuna Expressway to access the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. But with this new interchange, commuters from Noida, Greater can save that 11 km drive.
The move comes following UP cabinet's clearance for the interchange. Tendering for the Rs 80 crore project is expected to begin in September, said YEIDA CEO Arunveer Singh.

"The need for the interchange was felt as we expect increased traffic from across NCR area such as - Meerut, Moradabad, Faridabad, Palwal-Manesar as well as from Delhi, Noida and Greater Noida - once the Jewar airport comes through. The project was earlier to be built by NHAI (National Highway Authority of India). But due to some delay we have decided to undertake the construction work once the tendering process is complete as we feel the interchange is important for future connectivity to Jewar airport as well as both expressways,” said Arunveer Singh CEO Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

Devendra Baliyan general manager (Project) YEIDA maintained that NHAI will fund the project, it has also provided the design layout of the interchange. “The interchange will have two entry-exit points. It will be made at 91.87 km from point zero on Eastern Peripheral Expressway and will join Yamuna Expressway at 9.5 km from point zero of Yamuna Expressway,” Baliyan told TOI.

While the total area on which the interchange will be built is 57.10 hectare, the entire project is expected to complete by next year. “We are awaiting government order (GO) from NHAI which is expected within this month (Aug). After that we will begin the tendering process which should complete by Sept. Once the tender is allotted to the successful bidder, work for the project will take about 8-9 months’ time to complete. We expect the interchange to be ready by next year,” said Beliyan.
