The 19th Grand Prayer Puja for World Peace 2020
with Offering Statues of Jetsun Milarepa to 10,000 Sangha members
in Generation of Limitless Merits, Good Health and Longevity

The Grand Prayer Puja for World Peace was initiated by the late Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche in Year 2001. It has since been successfully held annually at Nangchen, Qinghai, China (Except for Year 2008). Each year, the Grand Prayer Puja for World Peace attracts Sangha members from all over to gather together praying for World Peace and Well-being. Last year, the 18th Grand Prayer Puja was attended by 8000 over Sangha members and 100,000 over devotees.
By making an offering to the Sangha members, gathered for such an auspicious event, will help one to generate limitless merits and create good connections with Dharma. Such an act is praised in the sutras as a way to generate limitless merits: The act of offering a sip of water to a Sangha member will enable one to receive more merits than all the water in the oceans.

The Grand Prayer Puja for World Peace will be held during 7-13 November 2020. This year, Palchen (Paljin) Rinpoche made the aspiration to make 10,000 Statues of Jetsun Milarepa (16cm in height) and to offer them to all the attending Sangha members.
Jetsun Milarepa is one of the greatest yogis in Tibet, and an important lineage master and patriarch of the Kagyu sect in Tibetan Buddhism. He was taught by Marpa Lotsawa, and is a representative of the practice lineage of blessing in Tibetan Buddhism. From an ordinary person, Milarepa attained enlightenment through a lifetime of diligent practice. Till today, the life story and songs of Milarepa are widely transmitted, contemplated and meditated upon by Buddhist practitioners. In his last words to practitioners, he said: “If sentient beings, upon hearing my name, arise faith in their hearts, they will never fall into the lower realms for seven lifetimes. Those with Dharmic affinity with me will never fall into the three lower realms and will eventually become a Buddha.
In Vajrayana Buddhism, the guru symbolises all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas collectively. To have the opportunity to rejoice and be part of the making of Milarepa images is extremely meritorious. Such a precious opportunity is also rare and hard to encounter in one's life. At this year’s 2020 Grand Prayer Puja for World Peace, we will be offering these images to the monastic sangha. Not only will benefactors sow the field of merits through their contributions, the monastic sangha will also increase their virtues and thereby the benefactors’ merits through their act of making offerings to the image of Jetsun Milarepa and cultivating the practices of the Kagyu lineage.
Palchen (Paljin) Rinpoche from Gongya Monastery is the organizer of the Grand Prayer Puja for World Peace. With his pure aspiration and collective effort, Statues of Marpa, Manjushri, Mani Prayer Wheels, Statues of Medicine Buddha, Four-armed Chenrezig, White Tara, Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava, Buddha Shakyamuni, Yellow Ritual Robes, Red Sangha Robes and Dharma texts have successfully been offered to the Sangha members during the previous Grand Prayer Pujas.
During this year’s Puja, similar to the previous years, offerings of meals to Sangha members, light offering, obstacle-clearing puja and puja for the deceased will be made. Those who would like to rejoice at this grand Puja with a pure intention, may make offerings, dedicating to those family and friends you wish for obstacles to be cleared or for good rebirth of those who have passed away.
Offering a Jetsun Milarepa Statue (16cm in height) - $40 per piece.
General Donation to support the Event – Any amount
Food Offering - $5 (per Sangha per day)
Light Offering - $5 (per lamp per day)
Obstacle Clearing - $5 (per name)
Prayer for the deceased - $5 (per name)
The closing date for the collection of contribution is 5 Nov 2020.
All Dharma Brothers and sisters, you may wish to make these auspicious offerings from your heart, and may all sentient beings benefit from the limitless merits generated, attaining temporary and ultimate happiness, may there be the pacification of the pandemic, the revival of economy and peace and harmony in the world and may Buddha Dharma live long and remain strong.
