Grand Prayer Puja for World peace 2017

The Grand Prayer Puja for World Peace was initiated by the late Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche in Year 2001. It has since been successfully held annually at Nangchen, Qinghai, China (Except for Year 2008). Each year, the Grand Prayer Puja for World Peace attracts Sangha members from all over to gather together praying for World Peace and Well-being. Last year, the 16th Grand Prayer Puja was attended by 8000 over Sangha members and 100,000 over devotees.

By making an offering to the Sangha members, gathered for such an auspicious event, will help one to generate limitless merits and create good connections with Dharma. Such an act is praised in the sutras as a way to generate limitless merits: The act of offering a sip of water to a Sangha member will enable one to receive more merits than all the water in the oceans.

The Grand Prayer Puja for World Peace will be held during 31 October - 6 November 2018. This year, Palchen (Ba Jin) Rinpoche made the aspiration to make 10,000 Statues of Manjushri Bodhisattva (17cm in height) and to offer them to all the attending Sangha members. Manjushri is the embodiement of the transcendent wisdom of all the Buddhas.  He eminates as a Bodhisattva but actually is a return of an ancient Buddha. Manjushri represents Prajnaparamita, Perfection of Wisdom. Through recollecting Manjushri, one will attain all kinds of wordly and transcendent wisdom. The merits accumulated from making the Statues of Manjushri Bodhisattva are vast and tremendous, the negative karma created from many lifetimes will be eradicated, and the meritorious seed will be planted towards obtaining the fruit of enlightenment. Furthermore, with Manjushri Bodhisattva as an object of reverence and offerings, whenever Sangha members do their practice, the merit will continuously increase thus the donors to make the Statues of Manjushri Bodhisattva can skillfully accumulate vast merits. Palchen (Ba Jin) Rinpoche from Gongya Monastery is the organizer of the Grand Prayer Puja for World Peace. With his pure aspiration and collective effort, Mani Prayer Wheels, Statues of Medicine Buddha, Four-armed Chenrezig, White Tara, Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava, Buddha Shakyamuni, Yellow Ritual Robes, Red Sangha Robes and Dharma texts have successfully been offered to the Sangha members during the previous Grand Prayer Pujas.

During this year’s Puja, similar to the previous years, offerings of meals to Sangha members, lamp offering, obstacle-clearing puja and puja for the deceased will be made. Those who would like to rejoice at this grand Puja with a pure intention, may make offerings, dedicating to those family and friends you wish for obstacles to be cleared or for good rebirth of those who have passed away.

The Grand Prayer Puja for World Peace will be held during 19-25 November 2019. This year, Palchen (Ba Jin) Rinpoche made the aspiration to make 10,000 Statues of Marpa (18cm in height) and to offer them to all the attending Sangha members. The translator Marpa is an important lineage holder of the Kagyu lineage in Tibetan Buddhism. He is a renowned master of translation in the history of Tibetan Buddhism, and has made remarkable achievements in the translation of classical Buddhist texts and propagation of the Buddha-Dharma. In Vajrayana Buddhism, the Guru represents the totality of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the ten directions of the past, present and future. It is extremely rare and most auspicious to have the opportunity to make a free-will contribution to the making of the images of Kagyu Lineage Lama, Marpa. At this year’s 2019 Grand Prayer Puja for World Peace, we will be offering these images to the monastic sangha. Not only will benefactors sow the field of merits through their contributions, the monastic sangha will also increase their virtues and thereby the benefactors’ merits through their act of making offerings to the image of Marpa and cultivating the practices of the Kagyu lineage.
