Dear all

I hope you had a wonderful summer and are enjoying this beautiful summer weather we have had over the last few days!!

You may now know that I will be teaching you English A level from September, along with one other teacher.

Next term with me you will be focusing on your A level coursework. This will be on 20th century American literature.

I am writing to give you your homework which you must complete before our first lesson together in September.

First, you must buy:

Life Studies by Robert Lowell
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Studies-Faber-Poetry-Robert-Lowell/dp/057120774X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1345582261&sr=1-1

and

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grapes-Wrath-John-Steinbeck/dp/0141185066/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1345582316&sr=1-1

Please buy these editions of the books if you can so we are all on the same page when we are working together.

Secondly, you must have an exercise book for your work with me.

Thirdly, you must read The Grapes of Wrath before our first lesson together. As you read you must make note of at least one quotation or phrase that strikes you from each chapter of the book. At our first lesson together you must each hand in your exercise book to me with these quotations/phrases listed in your exercise book.

Most of you have worked with me over the last year and you will all know how committed I am to making sure you all succeed. I will work very hard to make sure you all achieve well at A level. However to do this you need to meet me half way and work hard too.

I look forward to seeing you all in a few weeks at our first English lesson and to seeing your homework.

Kind regards

Ms Quinn
