YCLSA STATEMENT ON THE ANTI-COMMUNIST REMARKS BY THE BANTUSTAN JINGOIST – BANTU HOLOMISA
The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] has noted with anger and disgust a letter addressed to the President of the Republic of South Africa by one Bantu Holomisa. The blether letter by the Bantustan apologist refers to SACP members as “cronies” merely just to portray a picture of the relationship between Communists and the state.
We strongly condemn attempts by Holomisa, a former Bantustan general and a Bantustan jingoist, to enforce the Suppression of Communism Act in a democratic dispensation. Members of the Communist Party, like every person, are entitled to the rights provided for in the Freedom Charter and the Constitution, the rights we fought for. There is no law in our democratic dispensation that prohibits members of the Communist Party from being appointed in government or the public service.
Shockingly, the letter employs tendencies and tactics that are known in society to have been associated to the apartheid regime’s fight back on activism such as the anti-communist stance, referring to people as cronies based on their political affiliation and portraying false information as reality to intentionally mislead the South African population.
This is notwithstanding the fact that the letter by the Bantustan General is pure hogwash and reflects a Member of Parliament devoid of knowledge for the South African constitution. Firstly, the Public Finance Management Act 1 (1999) prohibits Ministers from being operational. Secondly, it is a pure fabrication that positions that Holomisa identifies are all occupied by members of the South African Communist Party (SACP). Holomisa should not seek to resuscitate his shadow political garden party for the local government elections through the image of the South African Communist Party (SACP).
The YCLSA strongly condemns the former Bantustan General for seeking to return South Africa to the apartheid's Suppression of Communism Act. In terms of our law, it is unfair discrimination to exclude, as the former Bantustan general seeks, people from appointment in public institutions on the arbitrary, apartheid ground of their political affiliation.
We also call on the speaker of Parliament to find interventions to assist Members of Parliament with a receptive anosognosia such as Bantu Holomisa who do not understand the legislation of the country whereas he is a member of Parliament.
