2. In the News: Coming Up Short
as a Role Model for the Mommy Track
by Susan Dominus, New York Times
One appealing aspect of Caroline Kennedy's bid for
public office was her change to prove a woman who devoted her 30s to
family life could have an impressive second act. Read
the rest of the story.
Discussion Questions-
1. Do you feel that Kennedy would have really been
qualified for the senator position?
2. What do you think really led to Kennedy's change of
heart?
3. Do you agree with the author that even though she
stepped aside, this helps to pave the way for other women?
3. Tell Your Senators Don't Play
Politics With Our Stimulus
The House and Obama worked together to pass the American
Recoverty and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Senate Republicans are looking
to play politics with the bill and stall the needed measures that will
put America back to work. Call and email
your Senators and tell them not to play politics with our stimulus.

6. Building the YCL at Michigan
State University
The up and coming YCL club at Michigan State University
has been working on officially chatering their club with the
university. Club leader Peter Klein says that after finding a good
faculty advisor and writing the club constitution he began to outreach
to the MSU community to begin to build up their club. Using blogs and
Facebook, he networked with people on his
campus that he didn't know personally, but were interested in the YCL.
He also says that by introducing himself at
progressive events on campus, he lets other organizations know that the
YCL is around. Currently the MSU club is looking to become a coalition
partner with other progressive clubs on campus. Check out
their blog for updates on
what's going on with the YCL at MSU.
