I. Dynamic Submissions Needed

Dynamic Magazine is calling for submissions from youth and students about the economic crisis. We want to hear your stories of how you have been impacted, what's happening locally to fight back and what you think should happen. This is your chance to get your story out there and make your voice heard! We will be posting the submissions on our site. Submission formats are open to all forms of media (written word, video, art, etc). Send your submissions to y...@yclusa.org with "Dynamic" in the subject line.

II. In the News: The populist upheaval- where is it headed and who can lead?

By John Case

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1. What do you think of the Obama Administration's handling of the AIG bonuses?

2. What do you think the media and the right wing would do if Obama were to make the same kind of heated remarks about the AIG bonuses, like the Republican senator who said the AIG executives should commit suicide?

3. How can the populist outrage be channeled to push "the divisionary and backward-looking forces of finance capital and reaction to the side" and find progressive solutions, but doesn't feed into the anti-Obama rhetoric of the right wing?

III. Spread the Word to End the Word

Our language frames how we think about others. We all struggle against the usage of racist, sexist and homophobic language, but many times we don't take on the use of derogatory language about people with disabilities. On March 31st, 2009 youth from around the country will holding actions to eliminate the use of the 'r-word' in everyday speech. You can take the pledge to stop using the 'r-word' and find actions happening locally.

IV. NC Meeting Registration

The National Council of the YCL will be meeting the weekend of April 25th in Chicago, IL. This is an open meeting for all YCLers! To register, fill out our online registration form.

V. YCLers are putting the SLAP down on corporate greed

The Student Labor Action Project (SLAP) week of action is happening next week. YCLers in FL, NYC, MA, TN, TX and WI are organizing events. Sign up your event on the SLAP grid or find one that is happening locally and attend.
