UN MGCY Coordinating Positions - Call for Applications
We are happy to share that a number of coordination/facilitation positions have recently opened across various work streams of the UN MGCY. These are wonderful opportunities to engage. Below is an outline of open positions, with descriptions and links for applying. We encourage you to consider these opportunities and share with colleagues that may be interested.

In order to apply, please first make sure that you are a member of the UN MGCY (either as a registered organization or through Children Youth International). We urge you to follow the directions in the different forms. As a reference, you can find the UN MGCY process and procedures here (LINK).
Does your youth-led or youth-serving entity, possess strong interests and experience?
Are you willing to join an amazing international team, and contribute to implementing, monitoring, follow-up and review of these frameworks?

If so, join us! If you have questions, please contact o...@childrenyouth.org
Financing for Development
The FfD coordination team is tasked with facilitating engagement in discussions surrounding the Means of Implementation of the 2030 Agenda and other sustainable development frameworks.

The ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development follow-up (FfD Forum) is an intergovernmental process with universal participation mandated to review the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (Addis Agenda) and other financing for development outcomes and the means of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

  • Application for Global Focal Points - LINK
  • Application for Thematic Focal Points - LINK
  • These include the following: Tax Justice / International Financial Flows, Private Finance, Debt, International Public Finance, Trade and Development, and Science and Technology / Data (coordinated through the SPI platform)
  • Given the cross-cutting nature of FfD and the Means of Implementation, each working group within the UN MGCY (tasked with facilitating meaningful youth participation in certain intergovernmental meetings) will be invited to nominate one person to be the FfD focal points on financing issues and another on ST&I topics (as coordinated with the SPI Platform).

Deadline : July 10
SDG 8 - Employment, Decent Jobs and Future of Work
Increasing labour productivity, reducing the unemployment rate, especially for young people, and improving access to financial services and benefits are essential components of sustained and inclusive economic conditions. Roughly half the world’s population still lives on the equivalent of about US$2 a day. And in too many places, having a job doesn’t guarantee the ability to escape from poverty. A continued lack of decent work opportunities, insufficient investments and under-consumption lead to an erosion of the basic social contract underlying democratic societies: that all must share in progress.

Notably to this work stream are engagement in Global Initiative for Decent Jobs for Youth and the ILO Global Commission on the Future of Work, amongst other topics.

  • Application for Global Focal Points - LINK
  • Application for Regional Focal Points - LINK
  • Application for Thematic Focal Points - LINK
  • These include the following: Digital skills for youth, Quality apprenticeships, Youth in the rural economy, Green jobs for youth, Youth entrepreneurship and self-employment, Youth transitioning to the formal economy, Youth in fragile situations, Youth in hazardous occupations

Deadline: July 15
SDG 3 - Health and well being
Since 2000, impressive advancements have been made on many health fronts. However, to meet the Sustainable Development Goals health targets by 2030, progress must be accelerated, in particular in regions with the highest burden of disease.
  • Application for Thematic Focal Points - LINK
  • These include the following: Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and Mental Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Human Resources for Health (HRH), Tuberculosis (TB), Antimicrobial Resistance, Means of Implementation (MOI) (Financing ++), and Science Policy Interface (SPI)

Deadline : July 15
Science-Policy Interface Platform
The Science-Policy Interface (SPI) has become an increasingly important component of sustainable development within the United Nations system. It provides the foundation for evidence-informed policies, facilitates the use of science as an enabler in policy implementation and review, and provides a unique scientific lens into monitoring impact. Furthermore, SPI has been integral in identifying emerging priorities, drawing links between the interconnected nature of thematic issues, and devising solutions to address challenges and barriers to progress. The SPI Platform within UN MGCY also addresses the appropriate use of science and technology, across its different work streams.

  • Application for overall SPI Platform focal point and work-stream specific SPI focal points - LINK

Deadline: July 15
Regional Caucus Coordinators
One of the mandated positions in the UNMGCY includes the Regional Caucus Coordinators (RCCs).

They are responsible for coordinating a specific regional caucuses and its relevant activities across the UN MGCY. They must be an entity selected by RFPs of the specific caucus or peer-selected from amongst RFPs (excluding ones nominated by CYI) of the specific caucus.

This open call is for member youth entities, that are not already a regional focal point, and hence not in any regional caucus, and want to express interest to become an RCC of their respective regions. Please note that, the existing regional caucus will review the applications for the respective regions and either selected someone from within the regional caucus or a member entity that has applied for this position.

Deadline : July 15
We look forward to your applications and active engagement across the policy cycle and across geographic scales.
