It's time for the bi-weekly IG update! This update contains opportunities and events for Youth in the field of Internet Governance that we have come across. Application opportunities

IGF 2022 - Call for Session Proposals

The call for workshops and other session proposals has now been published on the IGF website and will be open until 3 June 2022. More information can be found here (https://www.intgovforum.org/en/content/igf%C2%A02022-call-for-session-proposals).

“Stakeholders are invited to apply to organize different types of sessions at IGF 2022 within the deadline: 3 June 2022, 23:59 UTC. Proposals should focus on the five themes of the meeting, held under the overarching theme, Resilient Internet for a Shared Sustainable and Common Future.”

 

APrIGF 2022 - Call for Local Hubs

The Call for Local Hubs for APrIGF 2022 is open now until 1 August 2022. More information can be found here (https://ap.rigf.asia/news/2022/aprigf-2022-call-for-local-hubs/). 

“Hubs are self-organized and self-supported local meetings that take place in parallel with the APrIGF sessions. The audience at a hub can watch the webcast of sessions and are encouraged to discuss and debate topics to help bring a local perspective on issues into the virtual APrIGF session, as well as send questions (via text, audio or video) that will be answered by panelists and otherwise contribute to the wider debate.”

 

IoT conference - Call for Workshops

The call for workshops at the 12th International Conference on the Internet of Things, taking place from 7 to 10 November 2022 at the Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands, is open until 25 May 2022. “IoT 2022 invites full-day and half-day workshop proposals with a clearly defined scope that falls in the general topics of the conference. We also encourage submission of workshop proposals that follow alternative formats such as hackathons, plugfests, demo jams, and breakout sessions as long as they can be conducted in hybrid settings. Workshop proposals should be submitted no later than May 25, 2022 to workshops-...@tudelft.nl, and will be subject to a rolling acceptance process.”

 

IIC's Future Leaders' Competition

The International Institute of Communications’ Future Leaders’ Competition is open for essay entries until 20 June 2022. More information can be found here (https://www.iicom.org/fln-2022/). 

“We are delighted to announce the IIC’s Future Leaders’ Competition is back for 2022. Now in its fifth year, the competition provides international exposure to ambitious young professionals (aged 35 and under) and the opportunity for them to demonstrate their knowledge and skill as they build their careers. With so much talent in our sector we hope to encourage submissions from across the digital ecosystem. This year we are asking young professionals to produce an essay on the following topic: "Across the Metaverse: Policy Priorities" In this essay, we want entrants to create a picture of how they see the world evolving and to consider whether steps should be taken now to help shape its future, or whether the sector should be left to develop without direct policy intervention.”

 

2022 Micro-Grid Academy Young Talent of the Year Award

Applications for the 2022 Micro-Grid Academy Young Talent of the Year Award are open now until 6 June 2022. More information can be found here (https://www.res4africa.org/calendar-news/micro-grid-academys-young-talent-of-the-year-award-2022-edition-applications-open). 

“Supporting those young people from all African countries who are committed and motivated to create a real change in their communities, RES4Africa is glad to announce the launch of the 2022 Edition of the Micro-Grid Academy Young Talent of the Year Award, carried out in collaboration with Enel Green Power (EGP) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the support of SDG7 constituency. Participation in the Young Talent of the Year 2022 Award is open to all young African innovators who fully meet the following criteria:

  • Between 18 and 35 years old;

  • African nationality;

  • Owners or representatives of the innovative idea(s) in her/his community in the REs sector in Africa;

  • Good knowledge of English.

The applicants must fully complete the Online Standard Application form, followed by an email to in...@microgridacedemy.org to inform of the completion of the application submission. Interested participants must refer to the complete information pack, to complete and submit the registration form by the 6th of June 2022. The selection committee will select 3 award winners, who will each receive €5,000, and have access to mentorship with experts in the renewable energy field. Furthermore, the Winners will be invited to major Conferences and Forums to present their projects to professionals and high-level organisations in the field.”

YCIG/YouthSG IGF 2022 Introductory Webinar

“We will present the issues and the latest news of the IGF 2022 taking place in Addis Abeba in Nov-Dec 2022. Meanwhile, we are going to start planning the Working Groups to submit workshop proposals. Middle East DNS Forum 2022

The Middle East DNS Forum 2022 is taking place virtually from 16-18 May 2022. More information can be found here (https://mednsf.org/).
