Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your inputs regarding the Youth IGFs. They are valuable contributions to the rounds of public virtual meetings we will run.

Planning the Youth IGFs Virtual Meeting I: Week of 20th February

I have communicated with the existing Youth IGFs regarding the timing for our first virtual meeting on Youth IGFs.
It was agreed to set up a doodle poll for the week of 20th February.

Kindly find the link to the poll here and cast your votes. The poll will stay open until Thursday, 16 February, 14:00 pm UTC.

The provisional agenda for the meeting, as previously communicated with the existing Youth IGFs, is:

- Welcome and Introduction
- Overview of the current practice on Youth IGFs: 3 models to be presented by the Secretariat
- How to organize Youth IGFs in accordance with core IGF principles (bottom up, multistakeholder, open and transparent, inclusive, non-commercial)?
- Multistakeholder Core Organizing Teams of the Youth IGFs
- Role of the Youth IGFs coordinators
- Youth IGFs representation at the annual IGF meeting
- AoB

In case you would have any edits to the agenda, do not hesitate to post to the list.

The Secretariat kindly asks all the NRIs to join this important meeting, as we will be reviewing the current practice and if and where possible, establishing some guidelines on the overall organization and role of the Youth IGFs.

Best regards,

Anja

Hi all,

+1 to your suggestion Israel, I like your emphasis on "multidemographic."

Dear all,

I was thinking about the “youth [only] for youth [only]” idea. As Marilyn pointed out, the IGF USA is trying to empower youth people to better include them in workshops and main sessions. I think that we should focus on inclusion in that way: youth people as members of the community, not as members of separate initiatives.

As well as we embrace the multistakeholder model, we should also embrace a multidemographic model, with full involvement and collaboration among stakeholders, but also among demographic groups.

All the best,

Israel

I think this year is important also, to emphatize with Youth initiatives at National IGFs.

Interesting concept Marilyn youth for youth, I think we need specific workshop for IGF as well for the grooming of the next generation leaders as of now if you look at the trend in Asia there is a huge needs of youth awareness and leadership which is very low and sad.

In IGF 2017  if we could have slots targeting Youth for youth that would certainly be great and will certainly help give more scope and role towards the recognition and acknowledgement of youth role in IG process.

IGF-USA has had a number of approaches for engaging with youth, ranging from workshops organized by youth [only] for youth [only] with observers from others; to integrating youth speakers into main sessions and workshops.

I like the idea of youth for youth workshops, and then ensuring that youth are integrated as speakers in workshops and main sessions.

Very nice Anja. We are eager to participate and collaborate in the creation of procedures to the YouthIGF. We have a lot of experience from our local meetings and organization of people and attendees program content. And also about the topics we cover when we talk as Youth IGF Ambassadors at University.

Attentive to more news about this.

2017-02-06 11:58 GMT-03:00 Anja GENGO <AGE...@unog.ch>:

Dear Colleagues,

This is to kindly inform that the NRIs Toolkit we have all been working on these past several months, is formatted and available at the IGF website, here

As previously explained, the Toolkit stands as an advisory document, produced by the 2016 IGF initiatives and the Secretariat. Hopefully, it will be of use to all multistakeholder teams that wish to organize their own IGFs.

The Secretariat would like to thank to all IGF initiatives that contributed to this process, as well as to the members of the Working Group specifically organized for this purpose.

You will notice that on the cover page of the publication, it is stated that this is the First Edition. As previously communicated, this is mainly due to the fact that the NRIs are about to focus on establishing procedures on Youth IGFs. Depending on the result of the extensive public consultations and meetings we will run in weeks ahead of us, this Toolkit might need some adjustments.

I will notify about the work plan regarding the Youth IGFs in a couple of days from now, after I communicate it with the existing Youth IGFs firstly.

Finally, we will ask our in-formation NRIs (currently, total number is 17) to test this Toolkit in practice, and let us know their feedback.

While waiting for their feedback, the Secretariat will continue with running interviews with the existing NRIs and gathering best practices to be incorporated into another, separate publication, subject for your final review.

In case of any questions, do not hesitate to contact.

Best regards,

Anja

Dear Colleagues,

Many of you sent your feedback about the NRIs Toolkit, directly to the Secretariat.

The Toolkit is still available at the IGF Review Platform, for public comments among the NRIs.

On Monday, final formatted version will be sent (the draft .pdf one is available at the website, so you can also suggest ideas for a design).

Have a good weekend!

Best regards,

Anja
