We would like to remind you this is the last day to apply at the call for mentors for the Internet Society's IGF Youth Ambassadors Program 2020!
“In this collaboration, we are looking for young experts to be mentors of the 30 Internet Society's IGF Youth Ambassadors.
The mentorship program will be designed around the 4 tracks of IGF 2020, namely, data, trust, environment and inclusion, as well as will focus on the ongoing priority projects of the Internet Society.
Mentors and mentees will be matched based on their interests, as the mentees will be asked to choose their two top priority focus areas out of 4 IGF tracks as well as their three out of the 8 Internet Society projects.
The mentorship will include:
· exploring the IGF tracks,
· sharing relevant resources,
· identifying project ideas and guiding the mentees with their final projects,
· networking with young IG experts,
· preparing for and participating in IG simulation,
· attending IGF with mentees and debriefing after the event, sharing ways to stay engaged in the IG ecosystem and ensure sustainable youth participation.
The setup will be comprised of:
1:1 Mentors (matched according to regions, languages, themes)
Peer Groups (for cross regional exchange and learning)
Selection criteria:
-Availability in September-November: minimum of 8 meetings, preferably weekly meetings (meeting dates, key discussion points, etc. can be documented in a google doc for monitoring purposes).
-Expertise in the field of the respective IGF track, not necessarily youth experts.
-Some level of expertise in some of the Internet Society projects.
-Prior experience with attending IGF; engagement in different IG processes is desirable.
-Access to the Internet.
-Fluent in English.
-Regional
belonging.
