It's time for the bi-weekly IG update! This update contains opportunities and events for Youth in the field of Internet Governance that we have come across. Follow up on YCIG/Youth SG Introductory webinar on IGF 2022

“As discussed during the call, we arranged different Working Groups based on the IGF 2022 Main Focus Areas, and Emerging and Cross-Cutting issues to submit workshop proposals. Feel free to join those of your interest:

 We will carry on discussing in the Telegram Groups. Kindly spread the word with your networks and bring more young voices! Looking forward to drafting great proposals with you.”

 

Application opportunities

APrIGF-APSIG 2022 Fellowship Applications Open

The applications for the APrIGF-APSIG 2022 Fellowship are open until 25 May 2022. More information can be found here (https://ap.rigf.asia/fellowship/2022/aprigf-apsig-2022-fellowship-applications-open/). 

“This year, as we are excited to bring back the face-to-face component to the conference, we are joining forces with Asia Pacific School of Internet Governance (APSIG) to bring you a Joint Fellowship Program which allows Fellows to attend both APrIGF and APSIG in Singapore. The aim of the APrIGF and APSIG Fellowships is to bring diversity into the Internet Governance community by fostering the participation of underrepresented communities in the Internet Governance discussions. Through the program, fellows can develop a greater understanding of pressing and emerging Internet Governance issues in the Asia-Pacific region and globally, and network with peers from diverse Internet Governance fields.”

 

inSIG 2022 Fellowship Applications Open

The applications for the inSIG 2022 Fellowship are open until 10 June 2022. More information can be found here (https://insig.in/). 

“Applications now invited for the inSIG 2022 Fellowship for both national & international participants. Last date to apply is 10th June'22. The 2022 edition of the India School on Internet Governance (inSIG ) is to be a face to face edition hosted by Hyderabad Chapter and jointly organized by Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, Trivandrum and Hyderabad ISOC Chapters.

The tentative dates are:  25-27 Sep'22, with day 0 on 24 Sep”

 

Call for Proposals for LACNIC’s FRIDA fund for Internet projects

The call for proposals for LACNIC’s FRIDA fund for Internet projects is open now until 31 May 2022. More information can be found here (https://programafrida.net/en?_ga=2.49832674.530635432.1652001446-1270020293.1652001446). 

“FRIDA, the Regional Fund for Digital Innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean, announces the opening of the 2022 call for proposals to provide funding to projects, initiatives, and solutions that contribute to the consolidation of a global, open, stable, and secure Internet. This year's call for proposals focuses on three thematic categories: Internet Stability and Security; Connectivity and Internet Access; and Open and Free Internet. Each of these categories covers specific thematic areas. In addition, this year FRIDA has included a new subcategory focused on the use and application of Blockchain under the Internet Stability and Security category. Applicants may submit their proposals to receive funding under two formats: grants and awards. Grants provide non-reimbursable funds and technical support to projects, initiatives, or solutions with a maximum duration of 12 months. Awards offer economic recognition and highlight projects, initiatives, or solutions with proven, concrete impact. The call for proposals will remain open until Tuesday, 31 May 2022.”

Open consultations for the Africa Youth IGF 2022

“The Africa Youth IGF 2022 is set to take place in Lilongwe, Malawi from 19-21 July 2022. The themes for this year's conference follow on from those set out for the 17th annual IGF meeting will be hosted in a hybrid format in Addis Ababa and through online participation. The overall objective is to make participation in IGF 2022 meaningful and inclusive for all participants. In line with this the Africa Youth IGF Concept note working group of volunteers is currently working on the scope of the event concept note on behalf of the African IGF MAG, Secretariat and consultation with the UN secretariat. In the spirit of openness, open access and multi-stakholder collaboration this form is set out to influence the participation of the entire IGF community, Africa and global towards a sustainable and fruitful African Youth Engagement this 2022.  Thanking you in advance for your time and looking forward to your submissions. - AFYIGF 2022” 

 

University of Tübingen - Vacancy for Postdoctoral Researcher

The University of Tübingen (Germany) has a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Researcher for the Law and Artificial Intelligence section at the Faculty of Law. “The chair in Law and Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Law at the University of Tübingen, funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation and held by Prof. Dr. Michèle Finck, LL.M., conducts research on legal issues related to artificial intelligence, especially regarding data law and governance. There is currently one vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher in EU data law (m/f/d). The position is full-time and for a period of two years.”

EuroDIG 2022

Apply now for the European Dialogue on Internet Governance, taking place from 20-22 June 2022, here (https://www.eurodig.org/get-involved/register-for-eurodig-2022/).

Virtual EQUALS Digital Skills Workshop

On 13 May 2022 the Virtual EQUALS Digital Skills Workshop is taking place. More information can be found here (https://www.equalsintech.org/her-digital-skills). 

“As part of the EQUALS Her Digital Skills initiative, we are running on May 13 a virtual EQUALS Her Digital Skills workshop on the introduction to technology through e-commerce. Our target group is young women between the ages of 18 to 25. The workshop will be conducted in English, as we are also targeting refugees and displaced women across Germany.”
