Hello All,

The Social Welfare Board is having a debate at Scarborough JK on February 27th, after jamati ceremonies about "Substance use affects family harmony". Included are a guest panelist (toronto police, centre for addiction and mental health, etc)
as well as refreshments and a youth DJ.

They have asked for our help in promoting the event. Where possible, they would like us to have a table in the foyer, print off a few copies of the poster (can just be on paper, doesn't need to be fancy) that can be displayed on the table and actively recruit youth and even tell parents about this event.

At minimum, please print out the attached posters and spread the word throughout your khanes.

The tickets are $5 but if you don't have the physical ticket to give to the jamati member then they can email swb.o...@gmail.com to reserve tickets. I will hopefully be going to Oshawa JK and Pickering JK on the weekend of February 21st so I can drop off the tickets to those YCs.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Also, since this event is in 2 weeks, please do this as soon as possible.

February marks Family Harmony Month.  In recognition of Family Harmony Month, the Social Welfare Board together with the Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board will be hosting an event at Scarborough Jamatkhana following jamati ceremonies.  The event features a debate on how substance use affects family harmony.  The event is designed for youth aged 13-25 and their families.  This event is particularly important because it will have a strong focus around youth resiliency and empowerment. The event will promote open dialogue on various social issues that affect the youth and jamat. Our panel of experts includes a member from the Toronto Police Services and an Addiction Specialist from Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. We will also have a Youth Inspirational speaker.

 

For further information please refer to the poster and informational PowerPoint attached to this email. Please help us to promote this event.

 

Tickets are limited and can be purchased for $5 by emailing Swb.O...@gmail.com.

Unfortunately, I didn't get tickets to sell for scarborough jk. I was only assigned 12 tickets to split between Pickering and Oshawa jk.

But another method to get the tickets is by sending an email to swb.o...@gmail.com
