6th Annual Art Auction to Spotlight
Unifying Generations for Native Rights
Santa Fe, NM-The Native American
Rights Fund (NARF) will be holding its 6th Annual "Visions for
the Future" Benefit Art Auction Friday, August 17th, 2007 at La
Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The annual auction, held on the
eve of the opening of the Santa Fe Indian Market, has become one of
the premier events during the Market. Last year, was the
most successful year for the Benefit Art Auction which raised
more than $80,000 to benefit
NARF's non-profit legal and advocacy work on behalf of Native
peoples.
The theme for this year's auction
will be "Bridging Generations In Support of Native Rights." NARF
will do a special showcase of artists' works that are donated by
intergenerational artist families. Visions for the Future Featured
artists this year are Rollie and Shayna Grandbois (age 16), who are a
father and daughter and sculptors, and Dorothy Grandbois who is a
photographer and instructor at the Institute of American Indian
Arts. The special showcase will highlight the spirit of not
only keeping our traditional cultural lifeways alive through our
families but also bridging generations in support of defending Native
rights.
It's Not Too Late to Donate Art or Become
an Auction Sponsor!
NARF is still seeking art donations
from individual Native artists as well as additional sponsors for
the event. Your donation, whether monetary, art,
jewelry and other items for our silent and live auctions goes a
long way in making our critical work on behalf of Native rights
possible as the threats to tribal sovereignty and our traditional
lifeways still continue.
Please consider lending your
support by attending the event and/or making a tax deductible donation
today. See below for clickable links to art donation and sponsorship
information. For further information please contact Crystal Echo
Hawk, NARF Assistant Director of Development at 303.447.8760 or via
email: cry...@narf.org
