Dearest ASEAN Community,
Greetings from the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth - World Humanitarian Summit Working Group.
I am writing to invite you and your respective youth organisations, to be a part of the WHS Youth Core Team of North and Southeast Asia.
At the initiative of UN Secretary General, managed by UN OCHA, the first World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) will bring together people and institutions to propose solutions to our most pressing challenges and set an agenda to keep humanitarian action fit for the future. Leading up to the summit which will be held in Istanbul on May 2016, the UN Major Group for Children and Youth is currently facilitating online and offline consultations to ensure the participation and representation of youth.
In light of this, we will certainly need your support in reaching our fellow youth and making sure that their voices are heard. Through this WHS Youth Core Team, we can altogether lead youth consultations in the North and Southeast Asian region.
We are looking for youth leaders (30 years old and below) or youth organizations, with a focus on humanitarian work, from the following countries: Brunei, Cambodia, China, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, Viet Nam. Once involved, you will share in the responsibility of developing humanitarian recommendations and mobilizing youth networks in your home countries.
If you or your organisation is interested to be a part of our core team:

The World Humanitarian Summit is an initiative of the United Nations Secretary- General to forge new partnerships and find better ways to meet humanitarian needs in the decades to come. It will take place in Istanbul in 2106. Under the UN Major Group for Children and Youth, youth involvement in the process up to and during WHS will take place.
