This is a great book as every resident should read it. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a broad overview of community organization and thinking about becoming involved in community health work. An Introduction to Community & Public Health by McKenzie has many chapters dealing with health issues as they pertain to the community, ranging from epidemiology to prevention and surveillance to occupational and environmental health.
This is another great book for all community leaders concerned with public health. The main theme of this text is the relationship between public health, community organization and government programs. The author makes it clear that public health is a participative endeavor and not something that just governments do. Following this introduction, there are numerous chapters dealing with various topics such as family health, school health, AIDS, law and policy, environment, food and drug safety, occupational health, and public finance and budgeting.
