Campbell Biology by Reece Gilmore is a fantastic primer on all aspects of biology. It talks about the molecular biology of organisms, from the very beginning, explaining various cells and how they work together to make a living thing. It goes into the types of organisms as well as what types of organisms are related to one another. It also goes into the different types of environments that organisms grow in, and what you can expect to see as you go through your life.
My biggest recommendation would be for students who already know a little about biology and for students who need a solid foundation to build upon. A book such as this will serve as a great starting point for your learning experience and will provide some additional resources to supplement your study as you go further. For students just learning about biology, it is extremely helpful to have a quick reference guide to help you out as you do your research. And for those already in this field, like me, it makes learning faster and more effective. It definitely pays off when you finally get your hands on your biology notes.
