This was Amos’ second year of fully independent individual private practice as an anesthesiologist (virtually unheard of these days), which has afforded greater work-life balance and flexibility and has been helpful for family life and serving New Life Community Church as its Lead Pastor.
Emily has been homeschooling Genevieve in 1st grade and has been rediscovering all the academic subjects that she thought were long in the past. When she’s out and about with all four kids, she regularly gets encouraging comments from other moms of many kids.
Genevieve has learned to swim and loves to read. Her drawing and piano skills are getting better.
Camille wants to do whatever she sees Genevieve doing. She particularly enjoys outdoor and physically-oriented activities and has progressed tremendously in her reading skills.
This past year Asher discovered attitude and loves anything with wheels. He’s a good big brother to Isabelle and often spontaneously comes over to give her a hug and kiss.
Isabelle discovered the world outside the womb and ever since age 2 months has loved to smile at whoever looks at her. She loves bouncing in our arms or the jumperoo.
The kids’ favorite time each day seems to be our family devotional time. This past year we’ve been going steadily through Genesis. We often wonder whether the kids are getting anything out of these, but then Amos is regularly surprised at how much the kids actually retain and understand. That of course helps to encourage him to stay the course.
