I don't have a TX816 but this question is more in regards to multi-part patches.  When I load up the DX1 or DX5 patches between my DX7 and TX7, Patches 20 and 22 (E Piano 1A and E Piano 3A) I only get the B part; #21 works just fine.  Looking at the settings, I can't see why it would just be completely silent for those two patches, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the levels.

Have any of you tried out these patches on your TX816? Any ideas?

Currently my favorite of this set are #1 Horn Section,  #9 Cello 1, and #21 E Piano 2.

The DX1 and DX5 are (as DX7II D and DX7II FD) bi-timbral while each TF1 module of the TX816 is mono-timbral. A single voice from the DX1 and DX5 should work. It sounds like a compatibility problem.

Hmm.  My understanding was that each side of the DX1/DX5 is like a single DX7 or TF1 module.  I have the A part loaded into synth 1 and panned left, and the B part loaded into machine 2 and panned right.  Just some patches are silent on one side or the other and I can't figure out why.  They look like all the settings are the same as a standard DX7 patch and the levels all look correct.

That patches that work sound phenomenal.  Much better than simply throwing a chorus over a single synth.  You're right that there might be a compatibility problem.  I know that some of these patches are intended to be a split keyboard, so its possible that I might need to check the key split settings on the patches.
