I'm getting ready to change a head gasket on a 1993, I've been told
thisis a GM 4.3,
Questions, I have low compression on 2 cylinders, I plan to do a leak
down test (never done one but have the instructions) If I need head
gasket do you recommmend I change both or just the one side? also what
would typically cause the head gasket to blow. I bought the boat in
this condition only paid $1500.00, so thought it was work taking a
chance...

Update,
Checked compression again, 0 on 4, rockers loose... pulled the intake,
have 2 busted lifters, looks like they were missing the rollers.
Anyone have any thoughts on this...

Update,
Changed the lifters and re assembled, have compression now. Engine
runs, but need help setting timing (new post comming)
