Locking the base time down first. on a 4.3 V6 Yamaha Sterndrive
You have four test couplers located on the port side of the engine
just ahead of the carb.
You connect test wire #13 (female Black with Blue strip) to wire #14
any one of the black ground male wires to lock down the timing. Then
set the timing at 8 degrees BTDC.
You connect couplers #15 (female white with blue strip) and #16 any
one of the Black ground wires together for using less than 86 octane
fuel.
Run for awhile 5 min. than turn off and disconnect wires restart the
timing is set!
I have a few more tricks. Ken

Does anyone know how to set the timming on a 4.3 EST, I don't have the
test couplers ???

looking at the motor from in side the boat to the back.
look for wires clipped to the motor lifting bracket top front right on
intake ,
you take and unplug the end caps on this wires than clip them
together as shown in other email.....ken
