I took my outdrive off today because it won't shift into gear
properly. I thought maybe it was a stuck shifter fork like before. It
now looks like it's something major internally. Should I attempt to
repair it or replace it? Anyone have a unit I can use for a
replacement?

It's definitely the lower unit in my case. I took it apart with the intent to clean up the shifter fork like I did last year when I had a similar problem, and I can't even manually shift it into gear with the lower unit sitting in the stand. I'm sure the lower unit can be repaired, but it requires some special tools.

I have a local boat yard in my area, I think they have a couple last I
check they were around $800.00 each. You want me to check into it?

Did replacing the cable fix the problem?
