9 speed chains

Please help.

The (9 speed) chain on my Marin Wolf Ridge keeps snapping. Like every ride,
and it's getting me down.

I don't think it is snapping in the same place each time, I've checked both
sprockets and rings for shagged teeth and all is ok. Chain is well
maintained and lubed.

Should I use a quick link thingy to join it.

Help - in 12 years of biking I've never had this problem before.
