Committee on Homeland Security
The U.S. Immigration System: A Dilemma of Security versus Diversity
"Entry into this country-either as an immigrant or a visitor-is a privilege, not a right. The safety of our citizens must come before the comfort and convenience of foreigners." Michelle Malkin.
Nowadays, immigration is one of the most debatable issues in the U.S.; it affects the American society in many aspects. This Year, the committee will discuss the issue of immigration tackling the most debatable issue in the American history, the dilemma of security versus diversity…..
U.S.A. and Crisis Management: A Quest
for Reevaluation
“This was home. But there’s nothing to keep me here anymore.” A resident who lost his home in Hurricane Katrina.
“I saw my uncle, but I cannot speak to him. What can I say? His three sons are missing. How can he cope? I can’t speak to him, I just can’t.” a survivor of the Egyptian sunken ferry accident.
Through the past few years, the idea of crisis management emerged as a way of facing disasters, showing extreme importance in answering the question “what if?!”
This year, the committee discusses the American conception of crisis management. May it be –through its rights and wrongs- a guide for us in our own?

Committee on the Judiciary.
Subcommittee on the Constitution,
Civil rights and Property rights.
Double Standards: Human Rights Re-visited
The USA always played the role of Human and civil rights protector world wide; criticizing many countries for different “inhuman” actions. shocking enough -or may be not shocking at all- the USA itself violate every single civil right it defends, for example: detaining people at Guantanamo camp without a trial, or CIA tortures in different world black spots , or even the PATRIOT ACT that allowed violations of people’s right of privacy.
Seeking Justice, Senators of Committee on the Judiciary will face the challenge of identifying and solving this issue of Double Standards.
Ethics of life: Abortion
Abortion; a two edged weapon… and a difficult choice with a life decision; either to terminate the right of a child to live... Or give a mother her right to choose?
Yet there is a lot more to be taken into consideration, like the different effects on the society from risking the mother's life to decreasing the chances of adopting unwanted kids to creating a moral and ethical dilemma
This issue needs a stand … what does the law has to say … and what actions should be taken???

Committee on Energy& Commerce
US strategy to secure oil in the Middle East & the Caspian Sea.
Securing the oil flow has become a major concern to the US with the rise of rivalries on the international arena, and their success in sharing with it what was deemed to be its property.
This year, the committee discusses the US strategy to secure oil in the world's largest oil-rich regions… the Middle East; where the struggle to control oil resources had been the root of almost all instability and competition &
the Caspian Sea… where the US needs to conquer the control of Iran & Russia over what's becoming a new khaleej!!!
Financing terrorism…how far can it be controlled ?!
“International terrorism poses a multidimensional threat. Our coalition must use every tool of statecraft to defeat it,” Colin L. Powell.
Despite all efforts that the US exerts to combat terrorism, all it met has been failure due to other parties that nurture the terrorist web…and since this financing can take multiple forms& can be conducted using various means, we try to trace the forms of financing terrorism, and how they reach terrorist groups, through examining how Al-Qaeda & Hezbollah are funded &seeing if they connect
to the same parties that claim friendship with the US…

Committee on Foreign Relations
South Asia … A Region of Uncertainty
-A dramatic build-up of troops along the Indo-Pakistani border, with international fears of nuclear escalation………. - 2001-2002
-The US government has approved the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan, and the Indian government expresses "great disappointment”………. - BBC News, 26 March 2005
-U.S & India sign the nuclear cooperation agreement…….. - 2006
-New Bin Laden message is released…… - June 2006
The committee tries to explore South Asia, the lands that embrace hundreds of ethnicities, multiple religions, and conflicting interests for the regional as well as international powers, in order to draw the best vision for a balanced
American policy to handle a challenging political game in a region replete with possibilities and uncertainties.
U.N. Reform ….A Mission for American Diplomacy
"If I were redoing the Security Council today, I'd have one permanent member because that's the real reflection of the distribution of power in the world.” John Bolton, the American ambassador to the UN.
In such an environment, reforming the UN is to be debated in the committee on foreign relations, aiming at the restoration of the US moral image and the credibility of the American values in the world.
