Hi all
The Pharoahs were in Botswana just two months ago to see a goalless draw with our national team the Zebras.
But
just this week, President Festus Mogae of Botswana has been in Cairo on
a state visit, in order to explore further areas of support and
cooperation with Egypt. In his talks with the Egyptian President,
Hosni Mubarak, the two presidents have called for more African action
in resolving conflict on the continent. Botswana has enjoyed several
areas of cooperation with Egypt, including having Batswana trained as
security personnel and other areas of human resource development (which
I never knew about). Mogae and Mubarak also discussed bilateral issues
and strengthening their ties through using Egyptian expertise.
President Mogae also laid two wreaths at the Unknown Soldier
monument as well as on the tomb of the late Egyptian president, Anwar
El-Sadat.
For me personally, who will ever love Egypt as my
adopted second home :) I see this as a sure sign of good things to
come. Let us young people keep the dialogue alive, and keep working on
ways that we can cooperate and develop our countries together.
Finally, I want to wish everyone an incredible and safe
festive season. Please drive safely, more especially on Africa's roads,
but also have a
very wonderful and prosperous New Year.
Sincerest Regards,
Bukamu :)
