Build order

When building a C projcet with code generation, by default the machine code is compiled first and the C code is generated later. It would be preferable if the order was reversed. I tried changing the builders order in the Project > Proprties > Builders menu, but the build order is still the same.

Is there another way to change this behavior that I'm missing?
