From you pages :

"
Phone book (entries can optionally be read from SQL databases or LDAP directories)
"

I would very much like to connect the clients to a central OpenLDAP repository where I could
store all receipients' addresses / telephone numbers.

Dare I ask how this is done since I cannot find anything on the FAQs and the website ?

Please go to "Phone book"->"Add to list"->"LDAP phone book"

(And yes, documentation is a bit lacking here... ;-) )

Hope that helps

Hi Jonas,

Just a heads-up; It works. And it looks like it actually works like a dream !
I configured openldap on the same server serving hylafax and did what you
wrote on your mail and it worked straight away.

Couldn't be happier.

Thank you for all your help.

Best,

Spyros

Hi again Jonas,

Just a heads-up.
At least on ubuntu v12.04 x86 for some reason yajhfc looses the
openldap registration.

Sometimes I run round users' workstations entering the openldap
details and auth credentials.

HTH,

Spyros

Hello again all,

Just a heads-up.
OpenLDAP entries are also lost on yajhfc clients on win32 boxes (windows
7 32-bit and 64-bit if I am not mistaken).

I don't know how to approach this. Any ideas ?

Regards,

s.

Well hello again !

OK, I have some more info to add to this.
Indeed for some reason , if the windows systems are rebooted
yajhfc looses the LDAP contact entries.

Now, I installed v.6.2 (I think I am not sure for the version) on an iMac
with MacOS v10.12 (Sierra) and the mac does _not_ loose the LDAP
entries after a reboot.

Does this help ?
Also , do you have any pointers as to how the LDAP address
book gets started under yajhfc under windows ?

I could try and tinker a bit with python to give a solution to this.
I am no python guru but I could try.

TIA,

s.

Hello Spyros,

sorry for the really, really late reply, but initially I wanted to wait with an answer until I took a look at the problem...
I do not really use LDAP myself, so this is always a bit hard to test for me.

The code for the LDAP phone book makes no difference between the platforms, so it is odd that it works on Mac, but not on Windows.

On Windows there is a (Java) bug that might result in settings not being saved correctly when YaJHFC is still running when Windows is shutdown/rebooted.
This can be worked around by closing YajHFC using the Fax->Exit menu entry.
But this should not only affect phone books, but all settings.
Nevertheless, you could try if it keeps the settings when you exit the program using the menu entry.

Apart from that, I do not really have an idea what the problem is, because it seems to work here on my test installation (which basically is more like a "toy installation" of LDAP).
