Robert Dale Williams: INTENSIVE OIL PAINTING WORKSHOP: PORTRAITS (intermediate – advanced drawing ability recommended)
This intensive workshop introduces the process of composing, blocking, and rendering portrait paintings from observation. Oil painting principles covered in this workshop include color theory, tonal development, and form resolution utilizing a traditional “limited” palette.

Carolyn Opderbeck: OIL PAINTING: ARTIST IN THE GARDEN—GARDENS AND FLORAL WORKSHOP (intermediate to advanced)
Learn to paint floral still life and flowers in garden settings. Using live flowers for still-life paintings, and photos for the garden paintings, Carolyn will demonstrate and share her knowledge and experience in painting with oil paints using clean transparent backgrounds and adding beautiful color mixtures to create light-filled floral and garden paintings. Students will learn to block in the leaves in masses and create simple value patterns. Each student will receive one-on-one coaching and will go home excited about what they experience and learn in this workshop. You will enjoy the relaxed and generous teaching of Carolyn, who is a popular, experienced workshop and studio art teacher and loves to teach, and takes great pleasure in having her students find joy in creating art. Students should bring some live flowers and garden photos. Carolyn will also supply some flowers and her own garden photos.

Come explore the fascinating world of the Mandala, a circular art form that has its counterparts the world over, from ancient India to Native America. In this class students will explore the connection between their interior worlds and their outward realities. Repetitive design, like repetitive chanting of mantras, enables the practitioner to center oneself and experience deep calm. Every skill level is welcome in this class, and the class is especially appropriate for those who have never taken an art class. You will discover that you are creative and capable of producing a beautiful work of art. Students may work in the medium of their choice. Come join us in the art form that has no beginning and no end.
