Hello,

I'm looking for an Android IRC client with integrated push notifications but as far as I can tell, nothing exists yet.

So moving onto my next plan; How hard would it be to add push notifications to Yaaic?

Either by integrating it with the existing znc-push plugin and having Yaaic log in to the znc again or by defining a new protocol to wrap the irc connection which is aware of both push notifications and the un-reliability of a smart phone's connection (which might rapidly switch between wifi and mobile data networks)

Thanks,

Interesting idea.

As IRC itself requires an ongoing connection, you'll need a bouncer or bouncer-like software.

Getting a (pushed) notification whenever I receive a highlight or a private message might be cool. Together with the actions inside notifications introduced in Android 4.1 it would be easy to decide if you want to connect to the bouncer and react to this message.

The only disadvantage is that you'll need some kind of server support and therefore this feature is not easy to use for everyone.

Best regards,
Sebastian
