Hi, foremost many thanks for great app, it is by far best, indeed.
However I dearly miss one thing and that is a notification about new
post in the status menu (I don't know how in fact it is called but I
mean the place on top of the screen where icon of Yaaic is shown). I
am using the inbuilt IRC client in Opera browser and every time a new
message is posted in a IRC channel, the small chat symbol turns up
over icon O placed in the systray. In such a way it draws my attention
to chatting. Without having this notification (I mean on my Android
phone) I am not informed by any means about new posts and if you are
in another application for instance in Gmail and Yaaic is in the
background, you don't have a chance to be alerted about ongoing
conversation.
HTC Desire S with Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0.

Stock Android Gingerbread shows a red badge with the number of messages
over the icon. I don't know what HTC's done with its software (ugh,
stupid manufacturers).

That said, Honeycomb and ICS don't appear to show this badge either, so
we should probably do something else to our notification icon as well.

From the screenshots in the design guide it seems to be possible to stack notifications in ICS:

Let's see if there's a new way to achieve that.

Yeah, however can you something do with notification in Android 2.3.5
with Sense 3.0? I believe it has to have a solution because I have
Webroot Security mobile installed and for instance when the
application is making a scan Webroot icon changes in the notification
area. It means there is no system restriction as regards the
notifications. Therefore I guess it would be feasible to make Yaaic
icon active, I mean notifications capable.

So you want to be notified about _every_ new message while Yaaic is in the background?

Yes because when Yaaic is in the background its icon is visible in the
notification area but is not changing or somehow prompting me that a
new message was posted.

If I'm understanding him correctly, he wants our notification icon to
change when there are new messages waiting, because Sense doesn't
display the red number badge and Gingerbread doesn't have the
Honeycomb/ICS style number notifications.

Steven, I think it's both. Displaying the 'stacked' notifications and displaying them for all new messages (not just highlights / queries).

This would be possible as a setting. However it's a very 'chatty' notification. Some time ago I thought about a widget to display what's currently going on without the need to go into the appapp and swipe around. Would that be an interesting approach too?

Hello Sebastian and Steven!
Can I kindly ask you both, do you have any news regarding the subject?
Thx

Dear Sebastian and Steven,

I love Yaaic. It is the best IRC client I have seen for any platform whatsoever and I really thank you for this, but I also would like to see an option to have a notification for every message in a channel.
If such a thing is not possible, then so be it. I have set up a (ZNC) bouncer and there is a module that pushes notifications (znc-push), but only for private messages or highlights. I have some difficulty editing this module in a way so that it sends push notifications for every channel message. It would be amazing if Yaaic had this implemented somehow.

p.s. I can imagine that not everyone would like such a feature, so perhaps an option to only do it for selected channels is has more potential.

Thanks again!
