The goal of the 5th conference on Peer Education, Sexuality, HIV and AIDS is to dialogue on policies, programs and current innovations by governments, civil society, PLWHIV and other stakeholders on reducing new HIV infections.
Building on lessons from the International AIDS Conferences in Barcelona, Bangkok, Toronto, Mexico City and Vienna where Youth Force activities brought visibility and meaning to youth involvement,
Y-PEER Kenya proposes replicating specific activities. These activities include scholarships to increase youth attendance, a pre-conference workshop to prepare youth to participate, an advocacy campaign to improve understanding of youth policies, a youth column in the conference newsletter, and a space to network youth and youth serving groups.
Conference theme
The Conference theme will be: “Towards an HIV Prevention Revolution”
The Youth Sub- Theme is “Towards a Youth Led HIV Prevention Revolution”
In rallying the participation of all players to contribute to the number 1 agenda of the UNAIDS Strategy 2010-2015, reduction of new HIV infections will be the main focus, albeit other concern areas outlined in other global Initiatives and strategies.
