Good evening,
I wanted to reach out to let you know my brother, Erich Pieper passed away on Friday. He was a sailor with Y-Knot Adaptive sailing for over a decade. I cannot express to you how much it meant to him. As someone with a keen intellect but an uncooperative body, he was often frustrated with the limitations placed on him by people and his disease. Sailing around Pilot's Knob, smelling the pine trees, wind whooshing by, captaining that beautiful boat, it was the only time he felt in control of his physical environment-- it is where he finally felt free. He loved nothing more than sharing his passion for sailing with his nephews and cousins.
My 17 y.o. middle son and I had the honor of holding Erich's hands as he was passing. We told him how much we loved him and we knew he loved us. Then we told him to go ahead and sail away. All I could imagine is the beautiful smile he had every time he was with you. There is no way I could ever thank you completely for the gift you have given my brother for so many summers but please know, outside of his niece and nephews, you were the biggest blessing in his life.
We have asked folks to donate to you in his memory if they are so inclined.
Forever in gratitude,
Amber Pieper Glaros
