Hi all,
Lets start by asking ourselves some questions. And then working
together to find the answers and solve this situation.
a.) Why are our politicians like this only?
b.) Why are we all insensitive to the crisis that is glaring us in our
face?
c.) Why do our fellow citizens consider the IPL to be more important
that the General Elections?
d.) Why are political parties ignoring the real issues and
concentrating on populisms only?
e.) Why are citizens so apathetic to the real concerns and needs of
our nation?
f.) Why do we prefer inefficiencies, bad governance (or lack of it) &
corruption?
g.) How can we CHANGE this?
h.) What should be the strategies that we (citizens & organizations)
should take up to bring about a sustainable change in the election
process and conduct?
i) Where & when do we begin?
j.) How many of us can spend a couple of hours till the election
process is over for this campaign?

Please do share your views.

The answer to all the questions lies in our attitude. For some reason
we do not take ownership for the mess we have created
and the issues that are haunting us. We always try to pass the buck.
Each time we pass the buck, it comes back haunting,
and the vicious cycle continues. I seriously feel that now is THE time
for us to seriously do some introspection to improve our
attitude and to ACT up on it. If we succeed we will be able to create
a better tomorrow not only for ourselves, but also for the
generations to come.

Our attitude has taken years to shape; it takes lot of time, effort &
will power to change. An obese person trying to lose weight,
a smoker trying to quit smoking, a drunkard trying to quit drinking
would know what I mean. Charity begins from home so does
the change in attitude. It should begin from each one of us and from
each household.

Here's some of the attitudes that we need to change
- "chaltha hai" > "abhi se
nahi chalega"
- "it's not my problem" > "it's our
problem"
- "it's been like this since time immemorial" > "it has to change for
the better"
- "public property is not my property" > "public property is
our property"

As far as the general elections are concerned, we could conduct
campaigns such as
- Creating awareness about issues of national concern and how people
can make a difference this time
- Encouraging people to register in voters list, to update their
address with EC and to vote
- Creating awareness about candidate's background and their
accomplishments
- Creating awareness about a party's previous performance and it's
current manifesto (including it's pros & cons)
