Isolated by a somewhat deviant doctrine and less talented as a preacher than many of his competitors, Franklin Hall hung on through the fifties with the same tenacity that had helped him survive during the depression. In small churches and auditoriums across the nation he continued to teach with fervour his message of prayer and fasting and healing. When hard times came to the revival in the late 1950s, it was nothing new to Franklin Hall. He had an instinct for survival. Scores like him roamed the countryside.
Hall developed several teachings, related to fasting and healing that impacted many of his contemporaries. He believed in a "body-felt salvation," an early 20th century mid-western term for physical healing, wherein the fire of the Holy Spirit was fully applied to a person in a spiritual sense, would by faith protect the individual from all sickness, and even exhaustion through prayer and fasting as many Christians have claimed. He also claimed that those who fully experience salvation could be free from body odor through long term fasting.[2] Hall also taught that Christians can raise the dead based on actual medical reports, testimonies, and scriptural teaching.[3]
Atomic Power with God, Thru Fasting and Prayer is a short work by the spirited evangelist Franklin Hall. The book describes how prayer during extended fasts can heal the body and soul, and bring practitioners greater spiritual power to exalt and glorify Jesus Christ. In the book, Hall described his own introduction to fasting and prayer through friendship with a Oklahoma family advocating the practice in 1932. He fasted and prayed with them in anticipation of a large revival-and at the ensuing event, "scores of people were healed of all types of afflictions."
Franklin Hall (1909-1994), a prominent Pentecostal evangelist, was best-known for his emphasis on prayer and fasting. Hall had roots in the Assemblies of God, and his later worldwide ministry made an impact on the broader Pentecostal and charismatic movements.
Christians from around the world reported significant results from prayer and fasting: demons were cast out, the mentally ill were healed, people with cancer were healed, the blind received their sight, and the crippled were healed. People with stomach ulcers, palsy, tuberculosis, asthma and bronchitis were healed. People with smoking and drinking addictions were instantly set free. Many received Christ as Saviour and were baptized in water and in the Spirit.

He became convinced of the power of fasting and began to preach its efficacy as he traveled. In 1946, a group of "Holy Ghost people" began a long session of prayer and fasting, lasting between 10 and 40 days. According to Hall, they experienced a great spiritual awakening. Some even found healing of physical ailments during the fast. As word of the event spread, Hall found that there was heavy demand for more information about the power of fasting and prayer.
Later that same year, Hall wrote Atomic Power. The book explores how fasting intensifies prayer by "[bringing] unity and [filling] us with the glory of God." Through the combination of these two acts, he believed one could enhance their "spiritual appetites" and curtail their hunger, sex, and greed appetites-thereby uncovering their "spiritual atomic power with God that lies available to every Christian."

The book, which provided detailed information on the methods and benefits of fasting, was an immediate success and brought Hall considerable fame. According to Hall, all of the major evangelists began following his fasting regime and miracles erupted everywhere. I once owned an airplane, but owning an airplane and getting the motor going so it will take off with its own power are two different things. If you have the Holy Spirit, He still may not have sufficient sway in your life for you to have the advanced experience of power and the gifts of the Spirit. Many do not seek God far enough, and in quite the right manner to allow the Holy Spirit to exert His power, even though He has been received. Every evidence points to the fact that the early church and apostles put into practice what the church has failed to do today. Therefore, they had an experience that overshadows ours. Every single new testament church was founded in fasting and prayer. Acts 14:23.
Beginning in 1946 when the Franklin Hall called worldwide attention to the fact that fasting must be restored to the church, a tremendous revelation discovery came about. But greater still, and more potent, is the spiritual atomic power with God that lies available to every Christian. The scientist can now use and harness the power of the material atom, but the Christian can use and harness the dynamic power of the great Creator of the atom. As the Creator is greater than that which He has created, so is the power wielded by the Christian, through fasting and prayer, greater than that wielded by the atomic scientist. It is the purpose of this volume to show the Christian a sure method, whereby he may obtain this mighty power, and may be able to move the omnipotent hand of God. After Jesus received the Holy Spirit, although He was the Son of God yet He did not begin to manifest His Sonship until after He had fasted forty days. As children of God we will need to follow Jesus in fasting and prayer, if we expect to manifest spiritual life and power, as did our Lord. There is no other way to have a full manifestation of spirituality but through fasting and prayer, and there is, according to St. Paul, no other remedy for the groaning and suffering of creation than a complete manifestation of the children of God, as far as is possible here on earth.[18]
