I would really like to buy one of the Chinese spindles and VFD on eBay but I'm not sure the VFD will interface with the Xylotex controller and BOB.  And... the documentation is terrible.

Any helpful ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Dennis

Hi,

What spindle are you referring to?

The BOB just presents signals from the parallel port to screw terminals to make them easy to get to.
The place you need to really be concerned with is how mach3/4 will control the output from the parallel port.

Remember that the signal from the parallel port is a "logic level" signal.  Mach3/4 can make this a PWM signal if the spindle drive requires that.  Look in to Mach3/4 for PWM control and how to use it if PWM is what your spindle choice requires.

Well I've been looking at the Chinese spindles and VFD on eBay like this one:

Can you suggest what BOB I should get that will allow for the additional functions not available in the Xylotex BOB that I'm currently using ?

Thank you,
Dennis

Hi,

I guess my last reply wasn't posted.  Anyway, I don't know anything about that spindle.  If it requires 0-10V for speed control, perhaps you can use a breakout board from cnc4pc.com to control it.  The BOB I have only handles discrete parallel port signals, no anlag ones.

Hi,

You would need to know what kind of signals are required by your spindle drive.
If it requires PWM, then you could probably just use the BOB  I sell.
If however, your drive requires a 0 to 10V analog signal for speed level, then you can try one of the BOBs from CNC4PC.com

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for all your advise, I really appreciate it.

I'm going with this option:

For $12 it's worth a shot.  The spindle and VFD are on their way.!

I'll post the progress,
Dennis
