I'm new to cnc and I have a lot of questions.  I built the Dave Gatton Sidewinder and am using the xylotex 4 axis drive box with the 425 oz.in. motors.  I'm using universal gcode sender and can't get the motors to respond.  I keep getting an error message saying that grbl has not finished booting.  Can anyone tell me how to solve this?  Also, I haven't been able to find any info on how to set the baud rate.  I appreciate any help you can give me.  -Josh

Hi,

I''m not that familiar with the software you are using.  Most people end up using either Mac3/4 or LinuxCNC/Machinekit.
I'd recommend downloading the software again and trying again.
Some software requires different versions of Java so you may need to update that.
What interface board were you using?  There will be a board with a separate microprocessor on it to generate the STEP/DIR that the drive box needs.  That board may have some instructions on how to get the software loaded properly.

I've started using the mach3 trial version. I didn't know they offered a trial when I downloaded UGCS.
