I just received my drive box and motor kit, it came with the parallel port but my computer does not have a spot for this cord. I was wondering if I buy a parallel port to usb if that would work or if I need to add a port to my computer.
Thanks

Hi,
A USB to printer adapter will not work. If you can't add an internal PCI parallel port card to your PC, then you will need to have an external pulse generator like a smoothstepper. This can take commands from the PC running Mach3/4 through a USB port (or an Ethernet port) and generate the step pulses needed to control the drive box. The smoothstepper has a port that is adaptable to a DB25 port that you can connect to the drive box.
