help with setup

Hi 

 Just have a couple of question Iam trying to set up my cnc with a free trial of mach3 to test it out but I am running windows 10 and a pci express card so i can get the 24 pin i need too connect my drive box would i run into any problems or will it work.

 Have been trying to set it up but i have no idea what i am doing with the set up. If any one has any ideas that can help me i would  appreciate any advice you can give me.

Hi,

   I think Windows 10 on a 64 bit machine will not work with a parallel port.  If you are using a 32 bit machine then you need to make sure you have the parallel port address set up correctly in Mach3, and also make sure you have the STEP/DIR port configuration set up as well.

hey Jeff thanks for that info. I was able to find a computer running windows xp and set everything up. but ran into another problem when setting up the motor  i find that my motors start to lock up dont know what could be the problem

Hi,

   Do you mean they stall?  Start with a low number on the speed and acceleration.  Then start increasing until you stall.  Then back off those number by around 15% for a margin of error.
