Hello everyone,

I am trying to install Xyce 7.10 parallel on macOS but the link to Xyce MPI is missing (see screenshot) in the install instructions.

For the parallel version I need to manually install the same MPI libraries used for building Xyce, can anyone point me in the right direction to get the correct files?

Regards,

Daniel

Use Claude code to install from cli; it will find the required files needed

The files required are supposed to be those that the Xyce team built from OpenMPI sources that exactly match what were used when Xyce was compiled.   Doing a web search or asking an AI to find it for you is likely to come up with the wrong answer that would probably not allow the executable in the "Parallel build" link to run properly.

The Xyce team clearly just missed setting up a link to the OpenMPI tarball where the "[Xyce MPI]" text is.   The right thing to do here is for them to fix the link.

Sorry, as Tom says we clearly made a mistake and didn't set up the link at the website properly.  I'll try to get that fixed.

Another option is to build from source.   I don't know if you want to go down that route.

If you are building from source you can get Open MPI from here:  http://www.open-mpi.org.   Recent versions should work.

We have an older build guide here:  https://xyce.sandia.gov/documentation-tutorials/building-guide/.    That build guide is based on autotools which we are retiring.

We now build Xyce using CMake and preliminary instructions for this are in the file "INSTALL.md" in the top level of the Xyce source tree.    The Xyce source tree can be gotten from github here:    https://github.com/Xyce/Xyce

thanks,
Eric
