The new version identifies itself as

***** This is version XyceNF Release 7.7

which is the same as the previous version. Is this normal?

I have updated Xyce from the git sources and I get this:

schippes@asus:~$ Xyce -v
Xyce DEVELOPMENT-202401101455-(Public_Release-7.8.0-31-g1be5c7a9)-opensource

(so it is 7.8+, the + meaning development snapshot after 7.8 release)

No problem, we do that kind of stuff as well, it happens. I was comparing run times
with the previous version, and diff did not show the version difference.

.step iterations are slowing down simulation, I think messing up with timestep algorithms.
I had reported it earlier. It is interfering even with small circuits.

Hi Mehmet,

One of our devs just noticed that this morning as well! Should be fixed around Monday.

Thanks for catching it and letting us know!

I used the pre-compiled version.

Not from -v option. It prints out the version number as it starts. I was comparing the outputs from the two versions, that is how I noticed it.

Hi Mehmet,

Apparently my colleague found a different issue regarding version labeling.

So, I downloaded Xyce 7.8 on my personal (Windows) machine.
By doing a xyce -v, it reports itself as Xyce NF 7.8.0.

May I ask where it reported itself as 7.7? Was it from the xyce -v command?
Also, may I ask what OS you use?

Thanks,

Joshua Smith

Yes, I have one script which can point to either. I compared the binaries also, they were different. This is Centos rpm binary.

Any chance you have 7.7 still installed and have the path pointing to the old one?

That is puzzling, since the code that emits the "This is version" text in the output file uses the same function as the one that emits "-v" and so should always be the same.

When you say you're using the CentOS RPM, do you mean the RHEL RPM that the Xyce team provides?

Yes, it is! I tried -v option, and it says XyceNF Release 7.8.  But, if I run a simulation, output
contains 'This is version XyceNF Release 7.7'

I figured it out. I had another xyce script in my work directory, and that is what I was executing all the time.
Sorry for wasting your time. I apologize.
