Like other people, I recently downloaded an evaluation copy of XXClone and when I tried to install it I got the message  "The Shelf Life of this package has expired".

Is the XXClone software still available for evaluation and purchase?

I'm having this trouble as well. I guess we're out of luck.

Anyone know a good cloning program? I just tried Casper and it didn't make the drive bootable.

Try again – there have been newer versions uploaded to the site since March.

I have purchased several copies of the software on behalf of clients here in the past couple of months, and talked personally with Kan Yabumoto (XXClone author) by ‘phone.

He has had one or two issues with the website and his email (some emails were bouncing), but he is very much still alive and kicking!

So is his software.

Yeah, I didn’t like Casper either.

My download is from 2 days ago. I had moved it off the drive I'd be cloning, so re-downloaded and left it, and it gave the same error. I replied to his auto-message giving the details of the test drive download, so hopefully he will reply.

That is not even a concern to me. This testdrive becomes a ghost after the first acceptance to run the program. It said that will make a boot copy of your system and then doesn't run. What I believe is doing, is copying your main info from your system, send a copy to their server and we are now under their eye. Whatever is this i don't like it at all. I need a clear explanation by this people or I will report to the DOJ pirate unit. No games With me. I keep logs every day of who come by behind in the background to sniff my system. This is abuse!

That's good to hear.   For humanitarian as well as computational reasons.

Still he ought to hire an apprentice, pay him slave wages and have him sleep in the coal cellar next to the furnace, but teach him to do this stuff when Kan is out of town.   Really, we all should do that.   (I would, but I don't know when Kan is out of town.)

So is his software.

I should try the evaluation copy.  I tried before and had the problems others report.   But I still worry that when I get used to using it and upgrade to 7 or 10, from Vista, there will be no unexpired version.

That's a reason** I stopped reading this list, so I just saw about Kan a few minutes ago.   **That and that the questions on the XXCopy list were too complicated for me to understand.

I never heard of it until now.
