Drag and drop from widget to Desktop Mac

I wish to drag a file (It can be any type of file) from a widget to Desktop. I have the file location saved in my object. The button displays the icon and while dragging the button out, I want the file to be moved form the current location to the dropped location. How should I do that? Is there any way to know the drop location so that I can move the file in code.
