Capturing Video Signals from the Usb Video Capture Device

Hello all,

I assigned to make an video surveillance program which has to be written in Java.

I searched for a while but I got nothing.

What my question is, Is it possible to read video signals from the usb and use it in java codes using Xuggler ?

I am planning to use,one of the boscam sets for remote transmission and easycap to connect my laptop.

Xuggler is kind of like a Java wrapper around FFMpeg. It is very useful for encoding or decoding audio and video. I would assume you'll need to write your own code to read off the USB, but once you have a steam of video bytes, you can use Xuggler to compress the video.

I am not able to get the required compiler versions.

GCC-4.4 is not available. In GCC-4.4 is mandatory or any recent compiler version > 4.8 will work?

I just documented what I finally did to get it to work. It might work on newer versions, but I'd personally recommend finding the versions that worked for me because the code was really picky about versions of nearly everything.
