I tried to google search this motorized garrotte and didn't find enough information about it, which confirms OXO's comment, and it doesn't surprize me. Imagine having plans to make such a device so readily available? People would make one to kill someone, and even use it as a suicide device, which was done in this TV show! As "Queer" described it, the first time it was used, the wire was wrapped around a woman's neck. But, once the wire cut through the arteries, the motor somehow jammed. While the woman was still alive, she did plead not to be moved. However, she was moved, which somehow unjammed the device, and she was decapitated. Later though, in a forensics lab, there was a demonstration of the device on a realistic mannequin. The device was activated and decapitated the mannequin in about 4-to-5-seconds. The suicide idea came up later, when the person who used the device to kill the woman earlier was cornered. She took the device and wrapped the wire around her own neck, then activated the motor, decapitating herself. I have seen this same show twice now, having it shown to me by a lady friend, who is extremely interested in such a device.
This motorized garrotte was really quite simple, a very thing, yet strong wire connected to a small, but powerful, battery operated motor. The wire was described as a strong stainless steel type alloy! As the motor is activated, it winds the wire up. With the wire wrapped around the person's neck, as the wire is wound by the motor, it cuts all the arteries, before cutting completely through the neck. As I said, from the lab demonstration shown, it took 4-to-5-seconds to decapitate the victim.
OXO said the motorized garrotte was pure fiction. It was also used in a movie called "The Counsellor". If it was "pure fiction", where did they, the show and movie producers, come up with the idea? It's kind of cool actually! Especially when used as a suicide device!
