Hi all,

Things tend to be headed the way of the cloud here, so in anticipation of such, I was wondering if anyone could point me to resources for studying up on running XTF on AWS?

Thanks a lot,

Gary

Hi Gary,

In my group we're running several XTF services on AWS EC2 instances. My recollection is that it was pretty straightforward, but in a month or so I'm going to be porting a couple of them from Amazon Linux 1 to Amazon Linux 2, and in the process will be redoing my script to install the necessary packages. I'll try to remember to put that in a public place for you but a reminder wouldn't be amiss.

Hi Martin,

Hey that’s great, thanks very much. I’m wondering what other Amazon services you are using with this (S3, Cloudfront etc)?

Cheers,
Gary

Hi Gary,

The services I'm about to work on (https://publishing.cdlib.org/ucpressebooks/ and https://xtf.cdlib.org/ ) just use EC2 instances, plus Route 53 for DNS. I use CloudFront for (the now non-XTF) eScholarship and it's fairly straightforward to set up. I'd recommend it if your XTF server is sometimes overloaded (e.g. by spambots). Not sure how S3 would relate.
