Hi!
Did anyone notice that the newly announced TypeScript extension to
JavaScript is more or less what Xtend is to Java? Quite cool!

Yes, it's very nice and they have made very careful choices to fit the existing JavaScript landscape.
It's worth watching the video on their website if you haven't done so far.
