trouble rendering Ice Cache file

I have a fire effect that I cached out.  I saved out my fire volume material as a preset. When I cache out and then use the cache pointcloud the Ice material comes in with the default scene material. When I apply my fire preset material it does not render.  I dont want to have to re tweak my fire material.  What am I doing wrong?

Is it a different scene.   Normally I just duplicate the point cloud then load the data on the new one.  I can't think of a reason your method wouldn't work though.
