Hey gang

In XSI there was a very handy timeline function : ripple. When you move selected keys towards the right, the existing non selected keys would be moved by the same offset.

Is there something similar in Maya???

Thanks

Hey David;

Happy to hear from you after all these years!

To answer your question, there is indeed a similar function in Maya. You can use
in the dope sheet editor / toolbar
Double-click the Move Tool  icon image.png to open the Move Keys Options to specify how keys are moved: Move Only, Move Over, or Ripple.

Take care and c u soon

Hello Majid

Thanks for your great answer! This will come in handy

However, I like to use the Dopesheet much later in the process. In the early stages I use only the time slider and add keys, move keys, scale keys. This way I can quickly get the first timing ideas.

Much later, I use the Dopesheet to offset the animations of the body parts (for a character).

So it would be great if Autodesk adds the ripple in the time slider. There’s already a ripple function there, but it’s only useful when deleting keys… go figure. I think it would be easy for Autodesk to add ripple when moving or scaling keys. Is there a feature request form?

Glad to see you’re still around!
