AddChild method rotates added chain

I'm building a simple autorig in python and I've come to a bit of a problem. I create a leg chain, and an ankle chain (1bone) and then use the .AddChild method to add the ankle chain to the Leg Effector and when I do so the ankle chain rotates to an unexpected angle. Anyone know why this happens and how to solve it?

Nevermind this, forgot I was adjusting the roll after adding the ankle as a child.
